2nd April 2011
Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe
Wind Direction: ssw
Wind Stength: 13/18
Surf / Sea State: flat mostly
Air Temperature: 16
Sea Temperature: 7
Weather: sunny periods
Max Speed: 20.06 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 22 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

After yesterday struggle on a shortboard in winds not strong enough and a lumpy sea I decided to do some proper windsurfing and take the longboard out for a cruise :) as the high was perfect at just past midday and with the wind forecast to drop - not that there was that much to start with !!!
So after a quick walk along the prom with Mag I was rigging the 9.4 at 10ish and armed with my mobile phone, camera, gps, new Dakine drink back pack,a spare harness line and uj I wobbled off - not easy with not much beach and abit af a dump !!! There was 13 mph of wind along the front which was fine but then I had to run in the River Deben and the flow was very strong and it was bumpy.I made it to the first corner okay and then headed up river, the only shame about this direction is the wind seems to follow the path of the river making it a run :( As the wind increased by the Ramsholt bend I did it in several reaches and then had a disaster when I was caught out by a gust and put my knee through the second bottom panel making a big hole - that will slow me down !!!
I decided to continue and the sail held out :) I past the Ramsholt Arms and continued up to Waldringfeild where I sailed through the start of the dinghy race and survived and decided to contiue up to Woodbridge as I have never been that far before :)
So atfer passing Martlesham creek I joined the dinghies racing from Woodbridge and stopped in front of their clubhouse for a snack and to take some pics :)
I then stopped right in front of Woodbridge Mill holding on to a mooring bouy for more pics and chocolate before starting off the the long beat back !!!
So thats 4 fours sailing and a whole lot of fun proving you don't have to be planning flat out to have a good day !!!!
